Scholarship funds are part of an overall grant Generation West Virginia received from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to provide assistance to young talent to participate in statewide and national leadership development opportunities. In the upcoming year, Generation West Virginia will be providing several scholarships to a wide-range of leadership training opportunites.

Generation West Virginia is awarding a limited number of competitive scholarships to its Annual Young Leaders Conference May 12 at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, WV.
In its fourth year, the conference aims to provide unmatched professional development and networking opportunities. Sessions will focus on development and leadership, ethics of social media, professional development and emerging leaders in the Mountain State.
As part of Generation West Virginia’s scholarship program, funds are part of an overall grant Generation West Virginia received from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to provide assistance to young talent to participate in statewide and national leadership development opportunities. Scholarships are available to individuals from rural areas, companies with 15 employees or less, non-profit organization/government employees, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree students.

Generation West Virginia, in partnership with Leadership West Virginia, awarded its first scholarship to Rachelle Beckner of Generation Charleston for Leadership West Virginia.
In addition to being an active member of Generation Charleston, one of Generation West Virginia’s regional groups, Beckner also heads Generation West Virginia’s Best Practices and Outreach Committee.
“The Generation West Virginia Board of Directors is proud to provide this scholarship to Rachelle for Leadership West Virginia,” said Generation West Virginia Chairman Paul D. Daugherty. “We believe that Rachelle exemplifies the Generation West Virginia mission – of advancing the interest of young people and making a difference in her home community.”

Beckner is the senior development officer at the Charleston Area Medical Center Foundation, responsible for all fundraising aspects for CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital, including the CAMC Gala and Golf Tournament. She has raised money in the Kanawha Valley for eight years, most recently.
Leadership West Virginia is a statewide program to develop, strengthen and connect emerging leaders for the Mountain State. During the eight months of training, participants in each Leadership West Virginia cohort are helped to enhance their personal leadership skills and enrich their knowledge of not only the problems facing the state, but also of its diverse and unique attributes.
